“Research has shown links between television use and reduced creative imagination”,
decreasing schoolchildren’s “mental imaginary skills” (BBC, 2020).
So, are screens really such a bad thing?
First and foremost, at UK Unplugged, we embrace the enormous advantages technology has
brought to society in connecting and entertaining us. However, it is the balance between
screens and screen-free time that we all struggle with on a daily basis. It’s hard it is to get kids to put down their
phones, and the COVID-19 pandemic has made it even harder.
However, it doesn’t always have to be this way. At UK Unplugged, we strive to make screen-free play a stimulating,
creative, and positive experience for children and parents alike. We do this through our
unique and sustainable craft boxes and our regular sell-out, screen-free events.
What is the solution for regular screen-free bonding with children?
UK Unplugged have made it easy for parents and carers looking to do just that. We’ve
developed a huge range of high-quality, eco-friendly materials to use at home in order to offer parents and
carers a monthly UK Unplugged subscription. One monthly payment will include
one of our unique crafts boxes filled with over 10 hours of screen-free activities.
Being a subscriber will mean you have access to FREE delivery and FREE personalisation of your box,
all while paying less than you would for a stand-alone box. Our aim in providing this
subscription is to guarantee parents and careers regular, monthly screen-free time with their
children. Meaning plenty of time to be creative and enjoy all our unique and locally sourced
crafts.
What are the benefits of being a regular subscriber?
When you subscribe to UK Unplugged, you become a part of the UK Unplugged community.
By subscribing you are supporting local businesses just as we do by sourcing local materials
and collaborating with a variety of local businesses. At UK Unplugged, we do not only
promote screen-free play, but we care about the environment and act in creative
ways to be resourceful and make our crafts in an environmentally conscious way.
Our community events bring together likeminded parents and careers who are all striving to
educate, stimulate, and engage their children in screen-free fun. We provide a warm and
relaxing environment where children and careers can socialise and learn about new cultures
while taking part in our creative and fun crafts exercises.

We make it as easy for families to unplug as it is to pick up their devices.

UK Unplugged began in 2019 as a local community group dedicated to helping local parents and carers balance their family’s time on and off screens.
